I'm so thrilled that spring is finally here. The weather had been strange for a few weeks...very cold...very hot...very cold again, but it seems that spring has really arrived now. THIS is one thing we do like about this area. It is beautiful this time of year. The greens are so green, the lilac trees are so intoxicating, the azaleas are gorgeous, you name it and it is in bloom. It does wreak havoc on our allergies but I think it is worth it.
The other great thing about spring is gardening and farming! I've been back on the farm for a few weeks now and it is so wonderful. I love getting dirty out there and doing something useful with my time. I've planted cabbages, onions, bok choi, kale, chard, potatoes, and more. I've ridden on the back of a tractor to transplant seedlings. I've harvested and washed and reaped some benefits of my labor. I love the farm!
Our garden at home is seeing some promise as well. We've got peas climbing up the bamboo tripods, mixed greens and arugula filling in, herbs galore, fava beans and potatoes popping through the soil, and tomatoes just waiting to be put in the ground. It is so exciting to check on our garden every day to see what is coming up. We are waiting for our dill, cilantro, and carrots at this point.
Now if we can just get this weather to hold out for a couple of months. I'm already not prepared for the heat of summer.

oh neat Alice! I need to get in gear and make a vegetable garden and herb garden in our yard here. Do you have a deer problem where you are? We see them all the time in our yard here, so I guess I'd have to put a fence.
I love lilacs too, they are some of my favorite! Isn't the fragrance wonderful!
